New Delhi: In a veiled attack on the NDA government over pressing sedition charges against JNU students - based on 'tampered' videos, JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar on Friday said 'Constitution is not a video that can be doctored'.
Kanhaiya's statement - 'Constitution is not a video that can be doctored' - came after two of the seven video clips of the events at JNU between February 9 and 12 were found to be doctored by a Hyderabad based forensic science lab.
Clarifying his stand on controversial event on Afzal Guru in JNU, he said, "I was not the organiser of Afzal Guru event. I don't support people who are against India. I don't believe in Afzal Guru's ideology."
The lab report said no 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogans were raised and words inciting violence were doctored.
Kanhaiya said, "Preamble of our Constitution is being damaged and challenged. Intolerance and other ideologies are being imposed on us. We will fight against those who want to play with our Constitution".
He said, "There are some dark clouds but I want to tell them that there will be rainfall after the dark clouds. These dark clouds can't hide the red sun and the blue skies. The rainfall will push away the dark clouds."
Kanhaiya was arrested on February 12 and he was released from Tihar Jail on Thursday after Delhi police lawyer failed to substantiate sedition charges against him. Claiming full faith on Constitution and Indian judiciary, Kanhaiya said, "We want to do everything under Constitutional rights only".
He was arrested after Delhi police claimed that they have enough evidence including video footage showing Kanhaiya involved in anti-Indian act. However, Delhi High Court questioned Delhi police for arresting him under sedition charges.
