Congress formalises Jitendras name

BHUBANESWAR: The Congress on Tuesday formalised Jitendra Gond’s candidature for the by-poll to the Umerkote Assembly constituency. This was announced by AICC general secretary Oscar Fernandes.The BJP has already announced Dharmu Gond as its candidate. The BJD is yet to name its candidate. It is cogitating whether to field one of the associates of slain MLA Jagabandhu Majhi or a fresher.The seven-member committee headed by Revenue Minister Surya Narayan Patro has submitted a list of nine contenders to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who will take the final decision in this regard.Sources, however, maintained that Subhas Gond, a Jagabandhu aide, is likely to be the BJD candidate even though a faction of the district unit wants a fresher.
