Complaint on capitation fee

KOCHI: A complaint has been submitted before the Admissions Supervisory Committee for Professional Colleges headed by Justice P A Mohammed against PMS College of Dental Science and Research, Vattappara, Thiruvananthapuram, for charging a capitation fee.Lathadevi Nair, working with the Indian Embassy in Paris, paid `17 lakh to get her daughter Deepthi Nair admitted to BDS on NRI quota in 2009-10. It is against Section 5 of Act 19 passed by the Assembly which bans capitation fee.  Criminal procedures will be taken if the management of the college is found guilty.The committee which met on February 4 discussed the issue and entrusted the concerned nodal officer with the inquiry. The committee has decided to send the copies of the documents to the Thiruvananthapuram police superintendent (Rural) for further action, according to a release.
