BANGALORE: On the occasion of World Disability Day, Cafe Coffee Day, a chain of coffee shops hosted for the very first time an ‘Innovative Beverage Making Contest’ on December 3, a friendly coffee making competition for its silent brewmasters. The competition held at the cafe coffee day, next to Kaveri Emporioum, MG Road in Bangalore, saw eight talented silent brewmasters flaunt their brewing skills and prepare innovative and delicious coffee beverages. Eight hearing and speech impaired brewmasters in Bangalore showcased their artistic talent by pairing up and mixing items like ice-creams, cookies, brownies, syrups etc with coffee to create an innovative and delicious cuppa. They also used their creativity to conjure up their own innovative beverage concoction. The silent brewmasters with their heightened sense of smell and vision ensured the most appealing taste and visual presentation of the coffees. Participants were judged based on their presentation, taste and aroma. The lucky winners received special prizes. While every one had great fun participating in the event, there was also the sense of gratification of being recognised for one’s skill and talent at brewing good coffee. To further motivate and cheer the participants, their families were also invited to witness the competition. The event culminated with a cake cutting by the brewmasters along with their families. Through this annual friendly competition, CCD provides a platform which encourages them to develop their creative abilities, giving a boost to their morale and self-confidence.Speaking on the occasion K Ramakrishnan, president-marketing said, “The silent brewmasters are an integral part of our cafe environment and we value them immensely. ”
