BANGALORE: The High Court has directed the State Government to explain its stand on laying road to Bhagamandala in Kodagu district. A  division bench of the court had ordered the State Government in March 2010, to build a road to Bhagamandala under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’, a Union government scheme, but the government had submitted a wrong report stating that the population in that area was only 500 and that state fund was enough to lay a road there. The petitioner, Parandhamaiah, a resident of Bhagamandala, had filed a petition in the High Court stating that the population of that area is 1,446 and the State Government had laid only 6.4 km of the road and did not lay the road fully.Hearing the petition, the division bench comprising Justice N Kumar and Justice Ravi Malimath directed the State Government to explain its stand on the laying of road within one week and adjourned the matter.
