PUDUCHERRY: The education forum of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) launched the third edition of its league innovation competition ‘CII Innovator Contest 2011’ here, through a road show at the Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology (MIT) on Friday.This event is part of its launch programme for Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Kerala and Puducherry.The innovative competition is aimed at improving employability and to help create a talent pool. The top five teams from each stream of the league competitions will be invited for the finals, which has been scheduled for November 18 and 19 at the PSG college in Coimbatore.Each stream would be awarded Rs 1 lakh for the best innovations in business, social and technical stream. In addition, non-cash awards and citations will be presented to three most meritorious teams.M M Patel, past chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry Puducherry, spoke on the various innovative methods students could learn to gain employability in the industry. Ambalavanan S Ramachandran, Director, Surgeforth Technologies, Chennai, made a presentation on the ‘Innovator at MIT’ and provided a link www.employabilitybridge.com. for students to participate in the contest.Around 250 students from various streams from three different engineering colleges attended the roadshow.
