An orphanage in Ashok Nagar area here was on Saturday found engaging the inmates for construction and domestic works.
A surprise raid was conducted by the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the District Labour Officer (DLO) and members of Childline on the illegal orphanage.
CWC member Sibo Mishra said on a tip off, officials raided the orphanage and found 36 girls, all in the age group of 14 to 15 years, staying there. The girls were engaged in construction of another building of the orphanage. Orphanage secretary T Ramanjaneyulu was arrested.
