Gunjan Sharma of Mansarowar HS School Janjgiri (BMY) Durg has topped the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education exam, the results of which were declared on April 21. Gunjan Sharma scored 97.6%. Shreeya Agrawal of Saraswati SMHS School Champa (Janjgir) has stood second with 96.2%.
The third spot has been taken by Ch Umashankar Shastry of Government HS School Gourella (Bilaspur). He scored 96%. Here is the list of top 40 students.
The exam was held in March 2015 and after the results are declared the successful students will be eligible for higher education and can join either a general stream in a college or go for a professional degree.
CGBSE was established in Raipur on July 20, 2001 almost eight months after Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh. The board started conducting examinations from 2002.
While the board is headquartered in Chhattisgarh capital Raipur, it has three regional offices in Bilaspur, Sarguja and Jagdalpur.
The board also awards the top ranking students. While a student who secures the first rank in CGBSE 12th exam gets Rs 5,100 and a gold medal, the second position has prize money of Rs 3,100 and a silver medal.
All those securing a rank from three to 10 get an amount of Rs 2,100 while the very backward scheduled tribe students get Rs 3,100 for clearing the exam. All the above category students get a certificate too.
