Chennithala flays Jaya

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala has taken exception to the reported statement by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa that the main reason behind Kerala’s opposition to raise the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam was that the illegal resorts constructed on the encroached land given on lease to Tamil Nadu would be submerged. Ramesh asked Jayalalithaa to consider the fate of three million people in the five districts of Kerala, who are gripped by unimaginable fears and anxiety borne from the safety of the 116-year-old dam situated in a tremor zone.Ramesh said people’s conclaves demanding a new dam at Mullaperiyar will be held in all Assembly segments in the state on December 12, under the aegis of mandalam committees.
