Chennai to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema
The South Indian Film Chamber has decided to have the glam and glitz in Chennai between 26th and 28th of April.

It is interesting to know that Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada, Oriya, Bengali, Marathi and Bhojpuri are the languages that churn out the maximum number of movies in a year in India. This year, Indian cinema completes 100 years and what better place to celebrate it, than Chennai! The South Indian Film Chamber has decided to have the glam and glitz in Chennai between 26th and 28th of April. President of the Film Chamber said, "These days all movies are shot just about everywhere. Predominantly, the film in a particular language is shot in the capital city of the state that speaks the language.

But earlier, until about the 80's, most of the Indian cinema was concentrated in Chennai studios. So one can say that Chennai was the birth-place of most Indian cinemas. In order to celebrate this distinction, the Chamber has chosen the city." The programme will have art, dance and special performances in the evenings. Talks are on to provide a workshop on creation of a movie, in the mornings.

Titans of the South Indian film industry, Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Mammooti, Mohanlal, Ambarish and Chiranjeevi, among others, are expected to exalt the show. There are plans to invite big names like Amitabh Bachchan from B-town too, to join the celebration. So needless to say it is going to be a wonderful evening of stars.
