NEW DELHI: With the agitation in the Telangana region getting intensified, the Centre has asked the Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan to submit a status report on October 8.In a brief inquiry by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday, Governor is understood to have prepared a status report on the ground-level situation in the state, particularly in the Telangana region. It is yet to be known whether Prime Minister has called the Governor or Governor himself called Prime Minister.However, Prime Minister’s Office has refused to confirm the reports on the inquiry by Prime Minister.Governor Narasimhan, who is arriving here on Friday evening, is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday to submit his status report. Sources said that the report is basically focused on the impact of the general strike, its effect on the economic activity and the law and order situation. He is also likely to meet Home Minister P Chidambaram, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi.With the Centre intending to begin the second round of consultation process in the next week, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is also expected to reach the capital to be available for consultations. Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) will also be in Delhi to discuss with Pranab Mukherjee and Defebce Minister AK Antony. Governor Narasimhan on Thursday said in Tirupati that he has not sent any report to the Centre on the developments in the state.
