THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP national secretary  P Muralidhar Rao said that the administrative machinery at the Centre and the state have come to a standstill. Inaugurating the state council meeting of the party here on Saturday, he said that both the Central and State governments have failed to take a decision on the Muallaperiyar dam issue. He said those who are expected to act are remaining inactive leaving the people to  struggle with their burning issues.  He said while the Prime Minister wanted FDI in the retail sector, the chief ministers of Congress-ruled states, including Kerala, were against it.The Congress leaders were trying to befool the people. What is the justification in asking non-Congress chief ministers to implement FDI in the retail sector when even the Congress chief ministers were reluctant to implement it, he asked. He pointed out that when the Opposition members raised the issue of black money and  price rise in  Parliament and pressed for a discussion, the government decided to allow FDI in retail sector. He said that the government’s strategy was to divert attention from the issues of  black money and price rise and implement FDI in the retail sector at the behest of the US. He said that the decision to allow FDI in the retail sector while Parliament was in session was an insult to the Parliament. State president V Muralidharan presided over the meeting. All-India joint organising secretary V Satheesh, former Union Minister O Rajagopal, organising secretary K R Umakanthan,  former state presidents C K Padmanabhan, P K Krishnadas, K V Sreedharan Master,  general secretaries A N Radhakrishan, K Surendran, K P Sreesan, secretaries and state council members attended. KASARGOD DISTRICT PARTY CHIEF Manjeswaram mandalam president and former district secretary of the party Suresh Kumar Shetty has been appointed as the party’s Kasargod district president. Speaking to ‘Express’, BJP State president V Muralidharan said that the party would lay siege to the Secretariat on December 9 on the Mullapperiyar issue.   He said that the BJP would decide on the candidate for the Piravom Assembly constituency before December 15.
