Claiming that five seats have fallen vacant in self-financing medical colleges in the Union Territory, the Pondicherry Students’ and Parents’ Welfare Association has urged the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) of the government to sponsor students and fill up the seats.
In a statement, association president V Balasubramanian stated that the seats have fallen vacant after the second round of counselling concluded in mid-August and students shifted to other colleges. As the seats come under CENTAC, it should be filled up by the committee and the management of the colleges should not be allowed to fill up the seats, he said. He urged the CENTAC authorities to secure the list of the committee-sponsored students admitted in all the self-financing medical colleges and fill up vacant seats by organising supplementary allotments.
