Caretaker of 'terrorists' hideout flat gets bail
Abdul Rehman allegedly gave the flat on rent without owner’s consent.

New Delhi: A court on Monday granted bail to the caretaker of a flat in where two suspected terrorists were killed in a police encounter last month.

Abdul Rehman, the alleged caretaker of L-18 flat in Batla House colony near Jamia Nagar, was arrested on September 21 for alleged forgery and cheating. Two terrorists allegedly responsible for the September 13 serial blasts in the city were shot dead by the police in the flat.

Additional Sessions Judge Pinky allowed Rehman’s bail application on furnishing a personal and surety bond of Rs 20,000 each.

Rehman, a stenographer of Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department, was accused by the flat owner, Mohsin Nissar, who is an engineer in the same department, of forging his signature in the lease deed while giving away the flat to the two suspected terrorists on rent.

The court had on September 24 dismissed his bail plea. According to the police, Rehman had let out the flat to the suspects terrorists who carried out synchronised serial blasts that killed 26 persons in the Capital on September 13.

Rehman's son Zia-ur-Rehman and Shaquib Nissar, Shakeel were arrested on September 20 a day after the encounter at the Batla House, which had also claimed life of a Delhi Police Inspector M C Sharma.

Two others, Mohd Saif and Zeeshan, were apprehended on September 19 in the case of Delhi serial blasts.

All five have been taken to Gujarat as part of investigations into the alleged involvement in Ahmedabad blasts that killed 56 people.
