This happened last Tuesday in Chikmagalur district, of which, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Sureshkumar is in charge. After a series of meetings, the Minister met Chandrappa, who was visually challenged. Hailing from a village in Tarikere taluk, Chandrappa, in his late 30s, had not received his disability pension since July this year. He solely depends on this monthly pension of Rs. 1,000. The village accountant (VA) had, through someone, demanded Rs. 500 to settle his pension problem. Chandrappa, unable to pay Rs. 500, had come to Chikmagalur to see the DC. Incidentally, the Minister bumped into him.Chandrappa’s tale made the Minister furious. He could have asked the DC to attend to the problem or could have thrashed the VA in his rage. But then, that would have turned into a negative story against Sureshkumar. But the Minister had different ideas. He took Chandrappa to Tarikere in his car. Before reaching Tarikere, he sent word to the local tahsildar to ask the VA to be present at the guest house. After exchanging pleasantries with all the important persons, he came out of the guest house to see the VA. In the presence of the people, local MLA D S Suresh and officials, Sureshkumar asked Chandrappa to hand over a Rs. 500 note to the VA which the Minister’s friend had already given Chandrappa. Everyone was taken aback. The village accountant stood crestfallen. When the Minister asked the VA how he would feel if he was in the blind man’s shoes, he fidgeted and stood silent. Then the Minister asked the Assistant Commissioner and the tahsildar to ensure that Chandrappa got his pension immediately and action initiated against the VA.From - http://nimmasuresh.blogspot.com/
