THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Swami Tejomayananda, global head of the Chinmaya Mission Worldwide, delivered the first of the three-part lecture series at the Alakapuri Auditorium, Edapazhanji on Sunday. The inspirational talk, based on the book 'Jnana Sara' authored by the Swami, focused on 'The power of knowledge'. At the inaugural lecture, Swami Tejomayananda called upon men and women to turn to the ancient wisdom in Indian scriptures to gain the knowledge which can help one deal with the pressures and challenges of modern day life. He stressed on the relevance and immediacy of the ancient texts for achieving all-round development, not only for the individual but for the society as a whole. Swamy Tejomayananda had taken over as the head of the Chinmaya Mission worldwide after the passing away of Swami Chinmayananda in 1993. He is fluent in Sanskrit and has written commentaries on spiritual texts apart, from translating Chinmayananda Swami's writings to Hindi, and has also authored a number of other books. Elaborating on the importance of right knowledge in shaping our future, Swamiji said that the future is a continuation of the past and the present. Our response to the happenings around us will accordingly modify the future. Our response to situations depends on our knowledge, based on which we take decisions. The lecture series, organised by the Thiruvananthapuram Chinmaya Mission, will continue till October 25.
