MALAPPURAM: A group of media organisations which are in the hands of the corporates are intentionally attacking the Left for its stance against corruption, said CPM politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai on Monday. Inaugurating the ‘Save India’ rally organised by Democratic Youth Federation of India, he said that a new legislation should be brought to control the nexus between the corrupt corporates and media without denying media freedom.Demanding to bring PM’s office within the ambit of the Lokpal bill, he reminded that many prime ministers in India have faced corruption charges during their terms. Moreover, Manmohan Singh is the leader of a group of most corrupt politicians who looted money amounting to astronomical figures, he said. However, Lokpal alone cannot solve all the corruption. According to him, national judicial commission also should be set up to check corruption in the judiciary.“Not a single judge was punished after the Independence though many have been found corrupt,” he added.According to him, the policies in the country are formulated, not by the elected politicians, but by MNCs and Indian corporates. Neoliberal policies which encourage looting public assets and the corporate influence on the governance are the major reasons for the rampant corruption in the present Indian system, he said.T K Hamsa, CPM district secretary K Ummer Master, Nilambur Ayisha, V Sasikumar, Alankode Leelakrishnan were present in the inaugural function.
