BNAGALORE: The Bangalore University is now planning to start a Braille centre at University library in Jnana Bharathi campus for visually challenged students.
At present, there are around 120 visually challenged students. The Braille centre is said to be first of its kind in Karnataka, where visually challenged students will be able to read their academic books.According to a senior official from the university, the idea took shape when the vice chancellor was told that a visually challenged student asked his English teacher to record the questions and answers. "The student did not have study materials, hence he requested his lecturers to record the notes. However, he scored good marks in exams. This incident made VC take interest in starting a Braille centre," the official said.
