Jodhpur: After Sanjay Dutt, it is Bollywood actor Salman Khan's turn to face the courts. Khan will soon appear before a Jodhpur Court that will read out revised charges against the actor and four others in a 14-year-old case of blackbuck poaching during a film shooting in Rajasthan. The court will also read out charges against other Bollywood actors, including Saif Ali khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam, in the blackbuck poaching case.
The actors are accused of killing two blackbucks during the shooting of the film 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in 1998. Khan has been convicted for 1 year and 5 years for poaching of two Chinkaras at Bhawad and one Black Buck at Ghoda Farm (Mathania) in the intervening night of 26-27 September, 1998 and 28-29 September, 1998 respectively.
Appeals against these sentences both by Salman Khan and state government are pending in the High Court, which is now expected to read out more diluted charges under the Wildlife Protection Act.
The Rajasthan High Court had reviewed the charges against these stars in December 2012, charging Khan with section 51 of Wildlife Protection Act and others including a local accused Dushyant Singh with section 51/52 of Wildlife Protection Act and section 149 of IPC.
