Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said the BJP is not an anti-Muslim party and its government in the state is committed towards overall development of the minority community.
During an Iftaar party organised by the BJP Minority Cell, here on Tuesday, the CM said, “Some political parties try to paint BJP as anti-minorities but when one looks at our government’s programmes in Karnataka, it is clear that we are more committed than others in terms of protecting the interests of minorities.”
Shettar said in the recent budget the allocation for minority welfare schemes have been increased from Rs 40 crore to Rs 407 crore a year. “Do not have that wrong notion that we are against minorities,” the Chief Minister added.
Home Minister R Ashoka, former minister and MLC Mumtaz Ali Khan, Lok Sabha member D B Chandre Gowda, former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and others were also present on the occasion.
