Bigamous Punjab man grounded

CHENNAI: A man from Punjab, who had allegedly abandoned his wife and child to live with a woman from Lebanon, was arrested when he arrived at the Chennai airport on Saturday. According to immigration sources, Sadham Varma has been in Lebanon for the past three years. While in India, Varma had married Rashmi, with whom he has a child. He later left for a better business opportunity in Lebanon. However, he allegedly cut off all contacts with his family and hasn’t visited home for the last two years, added sources.According to a complaint filed in Punjab by Rashmi’s brother Rajesh, Sadham had allegedly met a woman in Lebanon and fallen in love with her. He had later married her and brought her to Chennai, where she lived in a house in Tirumullaivoyal. He had apparently been visiting her every three months before returning to Lebanon. Based on the complaint, an alert was sounded across all airports and Sadham was detained by immigration officers here. Punjab Police are on their way to Chennai to take him, added sources.
