Bid to thaw the frost between KCR, Kodanda
Bid to thaw the frost between KCR, Kodanda

The Telangana Joint Action Committee’s (TJAC’s) steering committee met Tuesday in a bid to defrost the ties between Prof M Kodandaram and K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Congregants at the jaw-jaw over lunch at a farmhouse in Ghatkesar patted each other on the back for the successful Telangana March on Sept 30 but reportedly made little progress on bridging the distance between the professor and the politico.

Sources at the lunch said it seemed that a majority of the TJAC constituents support KCR, especially the employees unions, and only a few Kodandaram. This disparity was evident in the march too where employee associations were thinly represented.

Opinion at the Ghatkesar meeting was said to be strongly in favour of preventing Kodandaram and KCR from drifting apart. The professor himself addressed that view obliquely by explaining that he is prepared to work with anyone for the cause of Telangana.

Despite these mediation efforts by common friends, there has only been loud silence from the Gajwel farmhouse in which KCR has been holed up since returning from his Delhi sojourn.

Asked whether he has received a telephone call from KCR since the march, Kodandaram disclosed to Express that he has not, and remarked that he would inform the media if he does and or is invited to Gajwel.

However, a key member of TJAC said the mountain will have to go to Muhammed and not wait to be invited. “KCR does not invite any Telangana leader for a specific purpose. It is the Telangana leaders who go and meet him,’’ he said.

Leaders of some of the TJAC constituents said the reported differences between Kodandaram and KCR are not unbridgeable. TNGO president G Devi Prasad Rao said the TJAC would overcome all such differences and added that the TRS and TJAC chiefs will soon jointly put an end to all that talk.

‘’Differences between leaders will not have any impact on the Telangana movement as such. Didn’t the Telangana March succeed despite the differences between some leaders?’’ he observed.

What's your reaction?
