Om is one of the sacred symbols in Hinduism. It represents a sacred sound, syllable, mantra and even an invocation. Its written representation also holds the utmost importance for Hindus. While practising mantras or even yoga, Om comes up quite frequently. Now, a young man has set a remarkable record and earned his name in the India Book of Records after he chanted Om for the longest time.
Anirban Dutta hails from Katwa in Purba Bardhaman (East Burdwan) and has been practising yoga for a long time with utmost diligence every day. Recently, he set a record by chanting Om for 45 seconds. He earned recognition in the India Book of Records. This has brought immense joy to him and his family.
In an interview with Local18, Anirban Dutta shared, “I have been working towards this for a long time. About two and a half to three months ago, I visited the India Book of Records website and explored various records. I found that there was a record for chanting ‘Om’ for 43 seconds, which was within my reach. I started preparing vigorously to break it, and I successfully achieved 45 seconds, setting a new record.”
The record-setter is a student of Mathematics at Katwa College and has been practising yoga from a very young age. He has been training himself extensively to achieve this record. His accomplishments have delighted sports enthusiasts as well. Samar Das, Secretary of East Burdwan district Sports and Physical Culture Association. He expressed his pride and stated how Anirban Dutta’s accomplishments have brought honour to West Bengal.
Anirban Dutta also provides yoga classes and training. He considers yoga as a passion along with his studies. He mentioned that there are many aspects of Yoga one can practise and probably break records.
