BANGALORE: Opposition leader in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Udayashankar has alleged that more than 70 per cent of development works undertaken by the Palike have failed in the quality test.
At a press conference, he said that BBMP is carrying out many development projects worth crores of rupees using the taxpayer's money. "The authorities, both at the state as well as BBMP levels are looting money. BJP is in power at both levels. They are using low quality materials for development works and hence the works executed are not up to expected standards," he alleged.

Udayashankar claimed that, based on Quality Control Cell's report, of the 208 projects undertaken during 2010-11 by the BBMP, 146 projects did not meet the standard of the Cell, which comes around 70 per cent of the total work.

"If this is the case, then what sort of quality you can expect," he questioned.

Udayashankar blamed the 68 engineers, who are on deputation at BBMP for this mess. "These officials are sticking in the BBMP for more than three years in violation of Karnataka Civil Service (KCS) rules. These officials are responsible for this kind of work and quality," he alleged.
