BANGALORE: In a broad daylight murder, an employee of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was hacked to death near the BBMP Medical Health Office on J C Road on Friday.The victim Muthyalappa (38), a resident of B Chandrappa Nagar near Adugodi, was a group D employee at the BBMP office (Jayanagar 4th block division).According to the police, Muthyalappa had gone to the BBMP medical health office on J C Road at around 11.30 am to issue tappal. As he was entering the office, a gang of 4-5 assailants attacked him with machetes and fled away.Muthyalappa sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. “It is not clear whether the assailants were in vehicles. It is suspected that one Mahesha, a jail inmate in Parappana Agrahara central prison, has carried out the murder with the help of associates as the victim and Mahesha shared an old rivalry,” the police said.A few years ago, Muthyalappa and his brothers were alleged of attacking Mahesha and they were booked under attempt to murder case. Though the brothers were arrested by Adugodi police and sent to prison, later they had come out on bail, the police added.The victim’s brother Naryanappa claimed that though they did not have any role in that case, they were booked. “Even the police were supporting Mahesha and his associates. Last Ugadi festival, there was a fight between my brother and other rowdies, Rajendra and Benne, over a trivial issue. Finally, it has ended up in my brother’s murder,” he alleged.The victim is survived by two wives, Nagalakshmi and Veena, and four children.The post mortem was conducted at Victoria Hospital mortuary. Kalasipalya police have registered a case and two teams have been formed to nab the accused. Meanwhile, it is said that when the police examined the vehicle of the victim, they found a machete under the seat of his two wheeler.
