CHENNAI: A 28-year-old woman employee of a foreign bank was found murdered in Pattinampakkam on Friday. Police suspect it to be a case of murder for gain as two gold chains worn by the victim were missing from the body.Police said C Nachaal (26) of Vedachalam Garden, Mandaveli, working as a cashier, did not go to work on Friday. Her office staff called her up to find the reason for her absence, but they got no response. They then called up Nachaal’s younger sister. Alerting her father Bhairavan, Nachaal’s sister went to the house in the evening, but found it locked from outside. With the help of neighbours she broke open the door and was shocked to find Nachaal lying below the bed with her face covered with a polythene bag and her hands tied up. Her two gold chains and bangles were missing. The Pattinampakkam police have registered a case. Her husband Chockalingam (30) is working with an oil major and the couple have a three-year-old child. Realtor Arrested The city police arrested a realtor at T Nagar for cheating a man of Rs 50,000 on promise of getting him a piece of land on Thursday. Police said Mathiazhagan (40), who owns a real estate company at T Nagar had promised one Shankar to show a land in the ECR and took Rs 50,000 as advance. But he did not show the land as promised and delayed paying back the advance. On Thursday, he had threatened Shankar at knife-point and had snatched his cash of Rs 5,000. Couple Commit Suicide A couple committed suicide at Pallikaranai, reportedly heartbroken over their stillborn child on Thursday. Police said carpenter Prakash (26) of Mylai Balaji Nagar, Pallikaranai and his wife Jayalakshmi (22) set themselves afire after they were heartbroken over their stillborn child.
