TRIPUNITHURA: When the entire state is gearing up for a grand Onam fest, a group of children from different orphanages celebrate the occasion at ‘Balakarunyam’, a unique get- together of nearly five hundred children from across the state.The celebrations started with the ‘poovili’ by all the participants, headed by Thiyyadi Raman. In a traditional manner the children received the ‘thrikkarayappan’. Justice M R Hariharan Nair inaugurated the three-day-long Onam celebrations at Seema Auditorium here. Vishwa Hindu Parishad Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh Madhukar Rao Deekshith delivered the keynote address. Thulasi Bhai, State Orphanage Control Board Member, A.N.Radhakrishnan and others spoke at the occasion. The celebrations includes traditional as well as modern games for the children, interaction with prominent personalities like G S Pradeep, Bhajans and other cultural programmes.Today, the children will pay a visit to Sree Poornathrayeesha followed by a holy trip to Hill Palace. There will be a language study programme, ‘maashum kuttikalum’. In the afternoon session, a personality development class will be held to be taken by V K Krishnakumar, trainer, Junior Chamber International. The day's programme will conclude with a magic show by Neethu and Geethu.
