Baby hippo latest attraction at BBP

BANGALORE: Seventeen-year-old Sita, a hippopotamus delivered a calf at the Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) on Wednesday.She was brought to BBP from Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden around 15 years ago. So far, Sita has delivered seven calves and all of them are surviving. “Both the mother and the baby hippo are healthy,” said Dr Chettiyappa of BBP. Meanwhile, Dr R Raju, executive director of the BBP said that extra men were put to service near the Hippo enclosure as Sita had accidentally stepped on its offspring resulting in its death. Public can see the new born from Friday, he added.
