CHENNAI: High Commissioners of Australia and Britain called on Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday at the Secretariat. Peter Varghese, AO, Australian High Commissioner to India, David Holly, Australian Consul General and Michael Carter, Consul (Commercial) met the CM at the Secretariat. During the discussions, Peter Varghese said TN played an important role in India’s economic development as the State had a higher growth rate than the rest of India. He complemented the CM on the release of the Vision 2023 document.Varghese also expressed the desire to participate in areas of vocational training, green energy, deep sea fishing, low cost housing and cultural heritage projects. The CM thanked him for his keen interest in participating in the development schemes of Tamil Nadu.James Bevan, CMG, British High Commissioner at New Delhi and Mike Nithavrianakis, Deputy Commissioner at Chennai also met the CM. James Bevan commended the steps taken by the CM in achieving a high growth trajectory and in making TN sought after in all the fields.
