Coimbatore Asus, a consumer notebook vendor, is eyeing 20 per cent market share of the two million units tablet segment in India, in the next calendar year, a top company official said.
With a seven per cent market share in tablet market, the company is going for aggressive marketing and also launching new products to suit the consumers and capture the 20 per cent share in the expected 2 billion sales of tablets, Uneaz Quraishi, Director, Sales and Distribution, System Business Gorup-India, Asus India Pvt ltd, told reporters here.
The company is also aiming to increase its market share in the netbook and notebook segment, which was growing at even pace, and increase its market share from the present seven per cent, Quraishi said.
Quraishi, here to open the second ASUS store, the third in Tamil Nadu, said the company, with 60 stores at present, would have 100 stores by March 31 and 15 stores would be opened by this month.
As against the 30 per cent annual growth of tablets, net and note books industry, the company is witnessing about 15 per cent annual growth, he said, adding, China is the No.1 for its customer base, with 5.5 million units sales per year, with 200 partners and 1,000 dealers.
On revenue, he said China topped the list followed by EU and US and India coming in top 10 at present and very soon expected to be in the top five bracket, Quraishi said.
