ASP threatens to move HC, calls for CBI probe

Flaying the government for lack of action, he said that even his other superiors, like the Eluru range Deputy Inspector General G Surya Prakasa Rao, were turning a deaf ear to his plea for help.“I handed him (Rao) evidence in support of my allegations during the inquiry he conducted. He advised me to keep the evidence with me and provide it whenever necessary. But now, the DIG has told the media that I had no evidence. I have no option but to come out in open to defend myself,” Kumar said.Kumar also alleged that Varma was trying to influence the witnesses and had already succeeded in making some evidence disappear. He said his life is still under threat, especially since the police top brass is viewing his allegation as an act of indiscipline. He added that despite his complaint to the Rampachodavaram police and to the magistrate, no action has been taken.“I still have a threat to my life from Trivikram Varma,” he said.“How can the department do justice to a common man when an IPS officer like me is denied justice?” Terming himself an honest officer, Kumar said: “When the government shifted me from Parvatipuram in Vizianagaram to Rampachodavaram, I wrote to the Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy and other senior officers to punish me if they found any fault with my discharge of duties. But there was no action. This is the fate of IPS officers who try to work with commitment and honesty.”Meanwhile, Kumar’s car driver A Edukondalu and his gunmen VSN Srinivas and M Govind vouched for their boss, who had also alleged an attempt on his life. They said that the car in which they were all travelling had met with an accident at Malliasala village on the way to Kakinada on August 25.The ASP’s gunmen also feared they might become scapegoats in the tussle between the SP and ASP.
