The Arunachal Pradesh government has taken a serious view of the practice of forceful donations and contributions from government officials, contractors and businessmen by various organisations and decided to deal strongly with such illegal activities as per existing law.

Citing receipt of several complaints from government officials against these organizations alleging coercion, extortion and unlawful interference, Chief Secretary H K Paliwal in a notification on Friday directed the district administration and police to take stern action under the law against perpetrators of such illegal activities.

Entering office premises and residence of government officials, contractors, engineers and businessmen with the intention of collecting donation and contribution by use of threat or force would be construed as a criminal activity and will invite strict action under the law, the notification said.

Government premises are kept under surveillance of CC TV to facilitate the identity of such persons and frequency of police patrolling has also been increased,  it added. The government has also appealed the people, officials and others who witness such activity to report the matter to the police immediately.
