Five-year-old Iqra died on the spot when a tree fell on her house at Faqir Bagh in Chandoosa area of Baramulla district, the officer said.

The house also suffered extensive damage in the incident, the officer added.

High velocity winds swept parts of Kashmir valley, damaging dozens of residential houses and shops mostly in north Kashmir's Baramulla and Kupwara districts.

The wind storm, which continued for over half-an-hour, also plunged the Valley including summer capital Srinagar into darkness as authorities snapped electricity supply in a precautionary measure.

The electricity supply was restored this morning after the field staff of the Power Development Department (PDD) restored the damaged lines.

Meanwhile, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Basharat Bukhari informed the Legislative Assembly that Deputy Commissioners of all the districts have been directed to assess the loss caused to crops and property due to wind storm across the Valley.
