TIRUPATI: Andhra Pradesh has turned a model state in development and even AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi has often spoken of developing Uttar Pradesh on the lines of Andhra Pradesh if the Congress comes to power in that state, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has said.Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating Harita Hotel of AP Tourism Development Corporation near Srikalahasti on Saturday, he explained the various welfare and development schemes, including loans to farmers and women's selfhelp groups at low rates of interest and Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu employment programme, being implemented in the state.Saying that youth from Chittoor district alone would get one lakh jobs in the coming two years, he said the Sri City Special Economic Zone had assured to provide one lakh jobs. "Though I doubt it, but with new industries coming to the district, creation of one lakh jobs will become a possibility in the coming days,'' he said.Taking a dig at TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, Reddy said Naidu, during his stint as chief minister for nine years, was unmindful of farmers' problems. Instead of taking up developmental activities in his native district, he sold off two cooperative sugar industries and a cooperative dairy for the sake of his Heritage dairy,. "Thanks to Lord Venkateswara Swamy and Srikalahasteeswara Swamy, Naidu was not voted to power for the third time. Otherwise, he might not have even hesitated to sell away the two Gods even."After cheating people of the state in all aspects during his administration, the TDP leader was once again approaching people with several sops but people were cleverer than politicians and would never believe a World Bank employee like Naidu, the chief minister remarked.Ministers N Raghuveera Reddy, G Aruna Kumari and V Vasanth Kumar, Tirupati MP Chinta Mohan, MLAs K Chiranjeevi and CK Babu, Srikalahasti former MLA SCV Naidu and others were present.
