Another TN school head held for sex abuse

THOOTHUKUDI: Less than a week after a school principal in Virudhunagar was arrested for molesting a girl, another shocking case of child sex abuse has come to light in a school in southern Tamil Nadu.On Monday, police in Thoothukudi arrested 45-year-old Wilson Daniel, principal of a private school, on charges of sexually abusing a class VIII girl.According to police sources, Daniel was undertaking night rounds on the school hostel premises in Prakasapuram at Nazareth on Saturday when he noticed the lights switched on in one of the rooms. “Initially, he scolded a class VIII girl, who was staying in the room, for remaining awake late in the night. Later, he allegedly abused her sexually,” a source said. Later, the girl narrated the incident to her mother, who is a resident of Sankarankovil.Based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother, the Nazareth police grilled Daniel and subsequently arrested him. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody.
