On Saturday in Uttar Pradesh, seven people, including two children, were injured in a jackal attack in two villages within the Jehanabad Police Station area of the district.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Manish Singh initially stated that villagers had claimed the attack was carried out by a pack of wolves. However, it was later confirmed that a jackal was responsible.
According to forest officials, the attack occurred when the villagers were heading to the fields in the morning.
This incident follows a series of wolf attacks in Uttar Pradesh, which have resulted in at least eight deaths.
Wolf attacks have been occurring in Bahraich district since March and have intensified since the start of the rainy season on July 17. In the past two months, the district has seen eight fatalities, including seven children, and around three dozen other injuries due to wolf attacks, according to official figures.
