Upon his arrival at Philadelphia International Airport, PM Modi received a rousing welcome from a large number of Indian diaspora members. He also interacted with the Indian community who were eagerly waiting for his arrival before proceeding to Hotel duPont, in Wilmington, Delaware, where he will be staying.

PM Modi greeted the group of people dressed in their traditional wear with many of them holding the Indian tri-colour. He walked along the fenced area, signed autographs for some of them and shook hands with some others.

“An energetic welcome in Philadelphia! Our diaspora’s blessings are greatly cherished,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

At the Hotel duPont, he was welcomed with music, dance, and greetings. A group of women also performed Garba to welcome the Prime Minister. He once again interacted with the Indian community people.

After greeting the Indian diaspora, PM Modi said that it was ‘always a delight’ to interact with them and also expressed his excitement about an Indian community event scheduled for Sunday.

“The Indian community has distinguished itself in the USA, making a positive impact across diverse sectors. It’s always a delight to interact with them. At around 9:30 PM India time on Sunday, 22nd September, I will address the Modi and US programme in New York City. Let’s celebrate the bonds that connect our nations!” he said in another post on X.

From Wilmington, PM Modi will travel to New York to attend an Indian community event at Long Island on Sunday and address the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly the next day.

The Prime Minister’s other engagements include joining an Indian diaspora event at Long Island and participating in a round table with CEOs of American firms working on cutting-edge technologies such as AI, quantum computing and semiconductors.

The annual Quad summit at Wilmington is expected to roll out a series of new initiatives to boost cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and explore ways to find peaceful solutions to the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

Ahead of his visit, PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm to engage with leaders of the Quad, including President Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, to further the group’s mission of fostering peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.
