Ajmer: Three Army Majors are allegedly involved in a Army recruitment scam in Ajmer. The Rajasthan Police, in a joint operation with the Military Intelligence, busted a gang that was running a recruitment racket.
Rs 1 lakh and some documents were recovered from the six accused who were arrested and later sent to a five day remand.
The Army is facing a credibility test, as some senior officers have come under the scanner as well. Three Majors who are serving doctors of the Army Medical Corps are allegedly involved in the scam and are absconding.
Meanwhile, according to police sources, Inquiry Officer Assistant Inspector General of Police Rahul Prakash interrogated three Army personnel at the Adarsh Nagar police station in Ajmer in this connection.
In view of tips provided by the Army personnel in the interrogation, Prakash decided to interrogate four more, the sources said.
The police had already written to the Army authorities to look into the conduct of two army officers following busting of the racket.
It is to be noted that eight members of a racket of Army recruitment agents were arrested who allegedly took money from applicants for facilitating recruitment into the Army during the army recruitment camp held between July 11 and 19.
Two more, including the main accused sacked Major Abhilash Tomar of Jodhpur and his associate Jaisingh were wanted by the police in this connection.
