Agra to have gun wielding docs

Agra: When the doctors in Agra took an oath to save lives, they were talking about their patients.

Little did they realise that with the increasing lawlessness in the country, they would have to save their own lives too.

Medical practitioners in Agra have decided to apply for licensed arms following a spate of incidents in which armed robbers targeted doctors.

After a meeting on Wednesday, the Agra unit of the Indian Medical Association has also decided to employ security guards for the protection of doctors.

The Association decided that doctors would not attend to patients at night or make visits at patients? residences after recent incidents of robbers looting the clinics and residences of medical professionals.

The doctors had earlier given up early morning walks after one of them had been kidnapped and held for ransom.
