New Delhi: The attack by Pakistan-backed terrorists on the Pathankot Air force Station has sent shock waves across Indian cities. The reports of two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists taking shelter somewhere in the National Capital of Delhi has forced the security agencies to put the entire city on high alert. In addition to usual Republic Day security, the Delhi Police has tightened security across the city.
Random checking of vehicles has also been ordered. Several metro stations have been put on high alert. Major markets in Delhi have got more policemen and the security has been increased at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi.
Not taking any chances, the Delhi Police and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have heightened the security on the trains leaving from Delhi. New Delhi–Lucknow Shatabdi Express train was stopped and thoroughly checked after a bomb threat call on Sunday.
On Monday morning as well, a Turkish Airlines plane was ordered to return from the runway to parking area after an unclaimed mobile phone was found on a seat. The plane was about take off from the Mumbai airport.
The Defence Ministry has put all vital military installations across India on high alert. The Air Force stations, Naval bases and Army Cantonment areas have been put on high alert. The elite National Security Guards have been deployed at several places. The sharp shooters have also been summoned to take on the terrorists in case of an attack.
The security has been tightened in major cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata. The state police chiefs have been asked to act on the inputs shared by the Central Intelligence agencies like the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
