PATHANAMTHITTA: BJP senior leader L K Advani said that if the party comes to power, the Rs 25-lakh crore black money stashed away in foreign banks would be brought back to the country and used to uplift and strengthen the rural people and poorer sections of the society.Addressing a public meeting as part of the Jan Chetna Yatra at Pandalam on Saturday, Advani said that the money stashed away in tax havens and Swiss banks and the money involved in the 2G spectrum worth Rs 1.76 lakh crore would be utilised for poverty eradication and ensuring drinking water supply in all villages of the country. “If we come to power, the BJP Government would make the country one of the richest economies of the world. The government would create an atmosphere among the people of the world that the people of the country are credible and free of corruption and give the message that only a small section of the people and in government are involved in corrupt practices,” Advani said.The senior BJP leader said that the response of the people to the Jan Chetna Yatra was overwhelming and  above par when compared to the yatras of 1992 and 1997. “The objective of the Yatra would be to rekindle the confidence among the people of the country that the party could give a good  governance,” Advani said. “The Central Government led by the Congress made the people poor and  poorer,” he said. “A few individuals found a place in the billionaires’  list while majority of the people living in poverty are the contributions of the UPA Government,” Advani said. Party district president V N Unni presided over the function.Party national general secretary Ananth Kumar, party spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad, National Secretary Muralidhar Rao, senior party leader O Rajagopal, state president V Muralidharan, former state president P K Krishnadas, party state vice-president Pratapachandra Varma, general secretary K Surendran, A G Unnikrishnan, T R Ajitkumar and V A Suraj spoke.
