Park officials said evidence recovered shows that M4 rifles were used, which are common weapons for militant groups in the region.
Assam: An adult male rhino was killed at Kaziranga National Park in Assam and its horn was taken away by poachers. The park security forces heard gun shots around 12.30 am and rushed towards the Burapahar range side of the World Heritage Site.
On searching the area, they found the carcass of the rhino and empty shells of assault rifles. Park officials said evidence recovered shows that M4 rifles were used, which are common weapons for militant groups in the region.
This is the third such instance in 2016 after 17 rhinos were killed in 2015 and their horns poached.
