BANGALORE: Karnataka State Pollution Control Board chairman directed the state wing of The Institution of Engineers, to adopt a school and give it a green cover as a part of their World Environment Day celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, organisations should adopt villages or schools to make a difference. Such initiatives can change dismal circumstances, he said referring to the climate change predictions and the impact on life. Restoring green belts such as gundu thopu and devirmane in villages and creating a green cover for the new BBMP areas, he said community participation is essential as forest department officials alone cannot protect their backyard.
