After an unsuccessful 'Nannusire' actress Keerthi had pretty good role in the last two films 'Just Math Mathalli' and as lead heroine in 'Preethi Nee Shaswathana'. Both the films got rave reviews for her performance. Keerthi is a promising actress and her performance plus attitude to make it big in filmdom are admirable. Will she be one of the heroines who will last for long? Here she speaks exclusively to IndiaGlitz.com on that and more...
What is your family background?
I hail from an ordinary middle class family. My mother is working in a government department and she is everything to me. I have an elder brother and I am studying B.Sc final year in BMS College, Basavanagudi. My father is not alive.
How did you get into cinema?
I am into modeling. I could say destiny brought me to cinema. Just from pictures and no audition I got selected. It was 'Nannusire' in which I was the second heroine.
Has cinema become the livelihood and given satisfaction for you?
It is not a livelihood yet. After 'Just Math Mathalli' I have become very serious in the profession. Satisfaction is far ahead. The dedication of actor director Sudeep made me to think seriously. That made me to work even if there is no payment for my job.
Are you into some other activities also?
I have learnt classical dance. I am mad about music. Love to watch old movies, read historical books. I spend most of the time reading books. Watching movies has become a hobby after catching this profession.
Do you come from a traditional family? Is it easy to get along in the cinema field?
I am a pure Kannadiga Keerthi Gowda! I am from a conservative family. I begged my mother to permit me to accept film offer. Decent roles and decent outfits she put a condition. My mom is worried about what relatives talk about me.
Why no offers for you after Just Math Mathalli?
I am looking for even a small role that is valuable and talked about a lot. One that is like 'Just Math Mathalli' I am hoping to get. I am rejecting routine roles.
What the industry expects from you?
Hard work, dedication, good performance. I am ready for it and not anything else they try to grab from me. In two years I have done only four movies because I am choosy. I do not want to get in to wrong roles at all.
The Kannada girls are not looked after properly what do you say?
The talent here is not given right recognition. Some of the film makers want only artificial talent and not pure talent.
What is your goal in life?
I want good roles and I can wait for it. I want to be a good person. Thirdly I want to do MS after my science graduation.
Are you very sensitive girl? Look at the women problems in the society in a different angle?
I am sensitive. I have learnt not to shed tears. I am growing strong. People and society made me hard. Women exploitation is more but they are stronger than men.
Cinema industry is a dream factory? What is your dream?
I came to cinema industry without any dreams. As good offers came I started accepting. Now I want to be a good actress. I am mentally more matured now. Luck, destiny, and blessings of God I want for my hard work and dedication. Becoming a good citizen of the country, a good daughter, a friend are the top dreams in me as of now.
