TIRUCHY: Dr Rani, who claims to be the second wife of Srirangam MLA M Paranjothi, approached the Judicial Magistrate court here on Thursday to expedite the case against him for allegedly cheating her.Rani lodged a complaint with the Thillai Nagar police that Paranjothi had grabbed money and other valuable properties from her on various occasions after their marriage held in Chennai in 2008.She had approached the Judicial Magistrate’s Court seeking a direction to the police to file an FIR. Based on the court direction, a case was registered against Paranjothi on December 16, 2011 (Crime No 247) under IPC sections 493 (cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage) 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation), 294 (b) (uttering obscene words), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and certain sections of the Harassment of Women Act.The court had also directed the police to file the chargesheet after investigation. However, even after 120 days, the police failed to file the chargesheet.Rani told media persons that Paranjothi was making use of the delay in filing of chargesheet and indulging in false propaganda stating that he had settled the case by giving her a huge sum of money.“How can I leave the issue? I lost my life. He had introduced me as his wife wherever I accompanied him and whoever he met during those days. Now I feel humiliated in society,” retorted Rani.Leaving no room for rumours, Rani appeared before the Judicial Magistrate Rajaram with an appeal to expedite the case seeking a direction to the police to file the charge sheet. “I thank Amma for initiating prompt action as he (Paranjothi) became indifferent towards me when he got power. Still I believe in Amma and, definitely, I will get justice,” Rani said.
