According to the police, Kousalyan was staying in a camp at Bhavani Sagar. Two persons approached him and others, and advised them that if they went to Australia, they could earn lots of money. They demanded Rs 1 lakh for each person. Eighteen persons, including Kousalyan, paid them and had come to the Cuddalore bus stand for the trip. They were taken to Akkarakori near Cuddalore port.After an official complaint, Velu of Puducherry, Ezhil Selvam of Devanampattinam, Murugan of Devanampattinam, Jothiraja of Walajabad, Veeramani of Madurai Melur and Vedhagiri of Walajabad were arrested and booked under IPC 420 and 120 (B). Police are on the lookout for two others, Sundar and Ravi,  said to be the kingpin of the entire racket.Police sources told Express, “Sri Lankan Tamils who are already in Australia advised the refugees to come there so that they could earn at least Rs 1 lakh per month. Tamils in Australia gave the mobile numbers of the refugees here to the agents.
