CHENNAI: In a rare feat, at least 40 students have shared the top three ranks in the SSLC exams, the results of which were declared on Friday. Similarly, 38 students shared the top spot in the Matriculation board, while six each from the Oriental and Anglo Indian streams shared the top ranks.
School heads and students were delighted for more reasons than one, as there was an increase in not just the number of centums but also in the overall pass percentage in SSLC. The Matriculation and the Oriental boards too recorded an increase in the pass percentage compared to previous years. The overall pass percentage in SSLC saw an increase from 82.5 last year to 85.3 this year. Also, an additional 18,082 students appeared for the examinations this year. The pass percentage of both boys and girls saw an increase compared to last year. While a little over 88 per cent of girls passed the exams, among boys, the pass percentage was 82.3.
