PUDUCHERRY: Nearly 30 acres of sugarcane crops, worth around Rs 12 lakh,were destroyed in a fire that broke out in Sompet and Chettipet areas on Sunday afternoon. Fire tenders from various stations were pressed into service to contain the fire. According to sources, the cause of fire was yet to be ascertained.
