New Delhi: Crucial developments are expected in the 2G spectrum scam case as the CBI is set to file a supplementary chargsheet on Monday.
Sources have told CNN-IBN that five individuals will be named in the chargesheet including DMK MP Kanimozhi. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal is unlikely to be charged. DMK-owned Kalaignar TV may also be named today. Others likely to included in the chargesheet are Kusegaon realty and Cineyug films.
Meanwhile, Karunanidhi said he is not aware of any member of his family being possibly named in the 2G spectrum scam.
"If the chargesheet is filed, media will get to know. I don't know if my family members names are there," he said reacting to the reports.
A month and half after she was questioned by the CBI, DMK MP Kanimozhi is likely to be named in the supplementary chargesheet of the 2G scam on Monday. Kanimozhi, a director in Kalaignar TV holds 20 per cent stake in the TV channel which CBI believes got a Rs 200 crore kickback on A Raja's behalf. The CBI is likely to chart out the entire money trail from Shahid Balwa's Swan telecom to Kalaignar TV.Sources have said that Balwa routed the money to Kalaignar via Kusegaon fruits n vegetables and Cineyug private limited.
The chargesheet is also expected to shed light on Raja's aide Sadiq Batcha's role. Investigators believe that Batcha's green house promoters was a front company to route A Raja's bribe money.
Balwa's brother Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal of Kusegaon are also likely to be charged for criminal conspiracy and cheating.
Sources have said that Karunanidhi's wife and a 60 per cent stake holder in Kalaignar Dayalu Ammal may not be charged. Sharad Kumar, the CEO of the channel are also likely to be charged.
Charging Tamil Nadu's first family with criminal conspiracy could have its political fall out. The DMK had earlier withdrawn support from the UPA when CBI was about to question Kanimozhi. A peace formula was worked out then, but with election results due in Tamil Nadu, the question is whether Karunanidhi will go with Congress even as the threat of his daughter getting arrested looms large.
