Tap the Instagram app to open it. The icon looks like a white camera outline on a gold and red background. If you don't see the Instagram icon, swipe right on your device's screen and type "Instagram" into the search bar at the top. Tap the Instagram icon when it appears in your search results.
Tap the home icon. This icon looks like the silhouette of a home and sits in the lower left corner of the screen. Tapping it ensures that you're on your Instagram home page.
Swipe left on the profile picture bar. This bar is at the top of the screen. Continue to swipe until you reveal the muted user's profile picture at the end. When you've previously muted a story from your Instagram feed, the muted user's profile picture turns gray and is moved to the very end of the list of profile pictures at the top.
Long-press on the muted user's profile picture. This brings up a new menu.
Tap Unmute. The Instagram story is unmuted and appears in its normal colors in its normal place on your Instagram feed.
